Sand Rabbits Rest and Be Thankful by James Gerard is a children’s storybook that follows Professor Swift as he drives along a route called Rest and Be Thankful during a snowstorm. The professor is tired, sleepy, and unsure where he is, but through his window, he sees a group of Sand Rabbits wearing boots and digging in the sand. He thinks it is a hallucination. The next morning, he is rescued by Farmer Frank and told to take a week’s rest break. He is offered accommodation by Farmer Frank’s family, and when Professor Swift shares his fantastical encounter with the Sand Rabbits, only Elizabeth, Farmer Frank’s daughter, believes him. That night, the professor and Elizabeth set off on a wild adventure, chasing down the mystery of the Sand Rabbits and figuring out how these little creatures help people rest and fall asleep.
Sand Rabbits Rest and Be Thankful isn’t just a playful story about magical rabbits. It gives readers a gentle reminder about why rest matters, how to make friends, and the power of teaming up and showing gratitude. A lot of us see ourselves in Professor Swift. The book has realistic art that perfectly corresponds with the story and shows the beauty of connection.
