Author Biography

Christie Leigh Babirad is the author of three fiction books, a companion journal, and now her debut poetry book, "Sapphire Stars: Poems". A fiction writer, poetess, and journalist; she has had her work published in numerous magazines. Christie Leigh believes we all have a purpose in this life, the greatest one being “to love” and to follow that which stirs the heart. In addition to writing, she’s pulled to music and the deeper colors of the fall and winter seasons. She credits her family, friends, and fans of her work for encouraging her craft, and that is one of the many reasons why she will always say that there is no such thing as being “self-made.” She strongly feels that we are a collection of the people who have come in and out of our lives and placed love and belief in our hearts. The primary hope she has for her readers is that her words and stories comfort and inspire them, letting them know that they are never alone. She wants her readers to know that their feelings have a real place, and that this life can be so much bigger and grander, if we let love and optimism fully into our hearts. She’s a romantic and looks up at the sky often, marveling at its enormity and how the colors and clouds are always changing and the stars keep shining, no matter what.

Sapphire Stars: Poems by Christie Leigh Babirad is an enchanting and dreamy collection that will take poetry lovers into another dimension where romance, passion, and matters of the heart are expressed and will leave them fascinated with its timelessness and sensitivity. The book has been divided into four sections - Illuminated, In the Distance, Unhindered, and Dark Blue Encore - where each section pulls in readers with poems that will make them go in search of love and their purpose in life.

Readers who believe in lost love, or are in pursuit of love, will connect well with Christie Leigh Babirad's words and expressions. Her poems evoke myriads of emotions in readers and will take them on a journey of love and its varied forms. Every poem shows a different angle of love and her feelings are tangible to readers. The pictures added after each poem make it appealing and add color to her words. I enjoyed the simplicity and longing in 'December' and the novelty of first love in 'Daydreams'. Every poem pulls in readers with its charm, and undertones of love in its various forms are palpable to readers. 'Sapphire Stars' is another favorite of mine as it speaks about the magic that occurs when one falls in love. Babirad's wordplay is exquisite and the poems 'A Gift' and 'My Love reminisce about her love and what she misses about him and their love. It is a good collection for all poetry lovers to read and enjoy, and experience love, its magic, frailties, nuances, and complexities.
