Sasha Smart: Short Stories for Girls by Shermaine Perry-Knights introduces Sasha, a young girl who, like many other girls her age, faces daily challenges. From having to learn from her blunders in science class to striving to shine in other areas of her life, this sympathetic child reveals her true self to readers. Sasha is a typical young girl who likes spaceships and Star Wars, but will she be able to handle negative reactions? If you've ever wondered what different cultures have in common or whether standing up to bullying is truly worthwhile, you'll enjoy this book. These wonderful stories will teach every little girl valuable life lessons including self-acceptance, overcoming anxieties, and dealing with pressure.
Sasha Smart: Short Stories for Girls offers young readers a diverse range of stories that will keep them engaged. Author Shermaine Perry-Knights has effectively captured the daily hardships that young girls experience while also inspiring inner strength and perseverance. As a former "nerd," I admired how Sasha found her confidence and refused to be ashamed of her interests. I really liked how Sasha's experiment demonstrated the ideal approach to handling pressure and learning from your mistakes. In addition, Oleksandr Zinchenko's bright graphics enhance the reading experience. I enjoyed reading the really fun activity given at the end of the book, which can be done both at home and in the classroom. I highly recommend this book to any teacher or parent looking to instill courage, develop social skills, or simply encourage young girls.
