Secrets of the Vine for Women by Darlene Marie Wilkinson is a very small book based on John 15 where Jesus uses the vineyard analogy to bring Christians to spiritual abundance. The book, which is close to the version written by her husband called Secrets of the Vine, is written more towards women. As she teaches about the care of the vineyard, she is also teaching how Jesus cares for the branches (Christians) by pruning to get a higher abundance of fruit. A lot of Christians do not know what it means to bear fruit, so through this short book one will learn what it takes to bear fruit, be pruned and disciplined and to bear more abundantly.
I have not read the book Secrets of the Vine, so I cannot comment on comparing the two books, but I did enjoy reading this book and discovered a little more about bearing fruit. As I read about learning how to abide in Christ, I thought how much it hit home as far as our busyness keeps one from abiding as we should. As most women go, we start at dawn and go until dusk and on into the evening. We do not take the time to slow down and learn to lean on God, myself included. With a helpful study guide in the back, I feel like this book would be great for a women’s Bible study group. I know that I received a great message from this little book and will read it again
