Seekers of Earth (The Guardian Knights of Terra Book 1) by Kyle Pratt is a young adult science fiction novel that would appeal most to a mixed audience of teens and tweens who enjoy books that take place away from Earth with aliens and alien cultures. Seventeen-year-old Marine Cadet Lucas Baldwin’s life was forever changed when what should have been a routine training mission quickly turned into a fight for his life as he is ordered to lead an assault against an Auxilium base. It is during the sweep of the base that Lucas Baldwin encounters a human woman and it is this meeting that sets him on the path to questioning everything he has ever been taught about the Valac, the Mage, and humans.
Seekers of Earth (The Guardian Knights of Terra Book 1) by Kyle Pratt is a well written story that left me interested in reading the rest of the series. I particularly liked the way that the author did not waste time with unnecessary background information, but instead catapulted me straight into the heart of things alongside Lucas Baldwin. I enjoyed learning about the setting of the action throughout the story instead of just at the beginning, because it made me want to keep reading to learn more and to learn about what truly happened to Earth and the human race. Overall, I greatly enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series and uncover more about what is truly going on.
