Shapes and Colors for Children: Including Hexagon Pentagon Octagon by Amber Richards is an educational book for young kids that will introduce them to shapes. The book teaches children 14 different colors and 14 different shapes. It not only has the basic shapes but also some complicated ones like the hexagon, pentagon and octagon. This book is an effective tool for parents to teach their small kids about the colors and shapes they see around them and give them a name. It is helpful for kids who have difficulty in learning about colors and shapes as there are some tips for parents on how to teach them.
The book is useful and should be kept in children’s libraries and also school libraries. The illustrations and colors are vibrant and lively, making kids understand them quickly. Children can look around and identify the shapes and colors quickly once they read this book. It is a quick read and kids can learn fast. The introduction to the other shapes like the parallelogram and trapezoid is also highly educative as those are not common shapes that one gets to know. It is challenging to teach small kids about the shapes such as trapezoid, parallelogram, pentagon, hexagon and octagon. The book also helps in enhancing the pre-math skills of kids before they start school. Books with an educational concept should be introduced to kids from a young age to cultivate good reading habits in them.
