Kade Buxton is a fisherman's son who dreams of joining the Yuzhno Sakhalinsk Task Force of the Association. However, his Firn, Ananya, feels responsible to guide him toward the path of the Chosen One, the Reyn Gayst Danica Bree, notwithstanding Kade's lack of awareness and the influence of the Aropfian Jordin, whose plan is to steer him in another direction. After failing thrice to join the Association, Kade is left with no choice but to look for other avenues. But the sudden disappearance of his mentor, Ainsley Vanderpool, forces Kade and his best friend Leo to take matters into their own hands and seek a life outside Yuzhno. Shifted is the first installment of author KristaLyn A. Vetovich's enthralling fantasy series titled Shifted.
If you are a fan of dystopian novels or Japanese manga series such as Death Note, Shifted is just the book for you. KristaLyn A. Vetovich's series opens with a flying start and promptly hooks the reader into the world of Neshome and Firns. Anaya, Kade, Leo, and Jordin are compelling characters that you can't help but root for, and you will find yourself deeply invested in their stories. The pacing of the narrative feels smooth as the plot moves at a quick pace with multiple twists and turns to keep the reader constantly engaged. The worldbuilding feels authentic. I felt deeply invested in the story and can't wait to get started on the sequels. Overall, I felt thoroughly entertained by Shifted, and I would highly recommend it to fans of fantasy and anime.
