Due to his "reckless sentiments" and his aiding of a fugitive's escape, the former bounty hunter Davrick Caliburn now has a bounty on his head. Since he has no love for the Imperium’s brutal regime and needs money to sustain himself until the war is over, he accepts a job to rob an Imperium military train of a special dragon stone for a Blood-Baroness vampire. Accompanying him on this mission are three experts: Nolan Vanderall is a reputable astral mage, Talyaana Rae is known for swordsmanship and unrivaled talents in clandestine commodity acquisition, and Sidrick Voltelion is a "gearmeister". Their first mission brings them face to face with a powerful sorcerer, heavy artillery, and highly trained soldiers. However, the fight against tyranny has only just begun. Mark William Chase's Siege Chronicles is a combination of six books that make up one continuous epic story.
From the parchment-like texture of paper to the features of a magically empowered aerial torpedo and the scattered remains of stripped-down cannons in a war-torn state, every juicy detail in Siege Chronicles was greatly exciting. Prepare for non-stop action, sword fights and fireballs, and mind-blowing sorcery portrayed with great mastery and attentiveness. However, I felt there should be more to the story than the action and the world to make it less straightforward, even though other elements like humanistic values and conflict exist. Still, the story is worth a read. Mark William Chase definitely knows how to make fantasy feel real. Fans of action-filled fantasy and adventure guaranteed to make one feel an adrenaline rush should check out Siege Chronicles: The Complete Series.
