I was inspired to write this book by the silly antics of my cat Barry. His big personality makes for a fun story that young readers are sure to enjoy!

Silly Kitty! by Laura Neal is a children's picture book about a day in the life of a domestic shorthair tuxedo cat named Barry. Written in very simple language with repetitions, the book features and describes real photographs of Barry the cat doing indoor and outdoor activities that he loves. This includes sharing his human mommy's food, licking his dirty paws, chatting with chickens, standing on his hind legs like a person, and probably his favorite, taking a nap. The book also invites others to like Barry's Instagram page and see more of his day-to-day adventures both in videos and more great-looking photos.
This entertaining picture book will be a big hit with young readers. The language used is simple and features both short and long words and 1-2 simple sentences on each page with phrases that children can easily use. The repetitive phrase "Silly Kitty!" easily also makes the material perfect for an interactive read-along session, especially with younger and beginning readers. This is also good material to build up literacy skills in children because repetition helps emerging readers recognize and memorize words. Repeated patterns can also make children develop some familiarity with the way stories are organized. Children can learn more about Barry through his Instagram account which shows more videos and photographs of this silly but handsome feline. Silly Kitty! by Laura Neal is recommended for read-along sessions for Pre-Reading, Emergent to Early level readers, 4 years old and above.
