In Skip the Waiting Room by Chris Rovin, Jared Sheehan, Talib Omer, and Michael Ashley, the authors cover the unique impact of COVID-19 and the response to healthcare. They move on to outline historical harmful medical practices and cover the reasons Telehealth has shown an increase in patients. They present factual information and illustrate the perfect conditions for Telehealth and the instances where more direct care is needed while detailing the six pillars that underline a greater need for Telemedicine. The authors developed a business called QuickMD that caters to patients who need care and medical counseling but who are in a remote area and/or do not have an emergency situation. They tell the story of the hardships and successes of the business and its commitment to help mitigate the opioid crisis.

Geared toward everyone, including patients, doctors, medical entrepreneurs, health leaders, and business investors, Chris Rovin - vice president of operations, Jared Sheehan - chief operating officer, Talib Omer - founder and emergency room physician - and Michael Ashley - a British retail entrepreneur - show the way Telehealth has already significantly impacted the medical field and the way wearable medical devices may benefit people in the future. The text echoes the sentiments of many patients who are tired of waiting and managing schedule conflicts when a Telehealth appointment would provide them with a much better overall experience. The emergence of Telehealth will allow emergency rooms to focus on only emergency care, significantly decreasing waiting times and deaths from waiting too long before care. The authors deliver point after inarguable point for the need for Telehealth, wearable monitoring devices, and the future of medicine, and anyone who doubts their necessity will change their minds after they read Skip the Waiting Room.
