Slither Claus is a charming children’s story by David Serra that will warm everyone’s hearts. The main character, a reticulated python named Connie, is experiencing a crisis after having an altercation with one of the residents of the jungle. After an even less productive conversation with a friend, snake Raquel, Connie pulls away and slithers deeper into the jungle to ponder the day and rest. Suddenly, there are some loud noises and strange smells like peppermint coming from inside the jungle and around Connie, which make her very curious. She decides to explore the strange event and find out what was going on. Will Connie be able to handle the yet unknown discovery?

David Serra’s Slither Claus is a reminder about and a good lesson in being kind to others, even when it’s not really your day. Connie is delightfully relatable to the point where it becomes quite emotional to experience her thoughts and actions, while trying her best to make the world around her a better place and help others in the process. The author builds the excitement that follows the story from the beginning, with lovely, detailed descriptions of the jungle, by creating interesting situations, fun dialogues, and showing the peculiar thought processes of the main characters. The endearing overall feeling that lingers through the narrative makes Slither Claus an enjoyable, exciting story with an important message for young readers who decide to go on this wonderful adventure with Connie and her quirky friends.
