In So What? Keep Going!, Rob L. Lowe shares his experience of abuse, racism, and making a great life regardless of the troubles he encountered. Rob, who grew up without his parents, had a rough time finding balance in life. He found himself moving from one girl to another as a teenager and being unfaithful with his girlfriends on several occasions. As a student, he battled various challenges, such as struggling to focus on his studies and make good grades, despite his history of being an excellent student. He also had to deal with low finances, even though he took up several jobs at different times. Despite suicide attempts, racism at work, and sad breakups, Rob found financial success and built a life with the woman of his dreams—a positive development for someone who didn't think he would make it past 30.
This beautiful story is carved thoughtfully from ugly challenges. So What? Keep Going! has inspired me to achieve my goals and not dwell on excuses. I was glad to see that though Rob barely saw his father, he made an effort to provide for his family and work on his flaws to be a better father and husband. Rob is a fantastic storyteller as he narrates the important events in his life clearly and fluidly, ensuring the reader stays glued from start to finish. Every story shared is simply engrossing, from being threatened with a gun to being convinced to choose life over death in a dangerous situation. I appreciate Rob L. Lowe for being brave enough to share his poignant, inspiring, and profoundly enlightening story, which is a call to all to pause and think deeply before discriminating against others based on their race.
