Somebody’s Sleepy but Not Me by Stacy-Ann Julien beautifully captures an adorable bedtime tug-of-war between a little boy and his mother. Zen is an energetic child who is unable to sleep after having an adventurous day with his mother. He had fun at the playground, swinging with the other kids. He enjoyed visiting the Buccoo Reef, going to the beach, seeing the Pitch Lake, playing the steelpan, eating delicious foods, and running in the savannah. But as the sun went down and made way for the moon, Zen could not settle down to sleep. His mother tries to gently guide him to understand that rest is very important. Does she succeed?

Somebody’s Sleepy but Not Me by Stacy-Ann Julien is an endearing children's book written with lively rhyming dialogue. The creative visuals make the transition to sleep feel gentle and soothing. The vibrant and appealing tropical-inspired illustrations by Yorris Handoko complement the fun-filled, Caribbean-themed story featuring Zen and his mother. The story is written with preschoolers and early elementary kids in mind, particularly children who are resistant to bedtime or have difficulties sleeping through the night. It is an excellent learning tool for young readers that will strengthen vocabulary and reading skills through innovative rhyming techniques. It even includes a fun, interactive activity that will engage the imaginations of children and adults alike. If you are looking to teach your child the benefits of sleep and bedtime routines, this heartwarming picture book will get the job done.
