South Texas Drag by Tony Molina will immerse the reader in the sleazy culture of the South Texas drug trade and the joys and perils of a life of crime. Meet Toño Garcia, a drug runner, the man who kills, kidnaps, and commits all sorts of crimes for self-preservation. Watch him as he takes on a very dangerous act with his cronies Rigo and Paco, and Jay—a big time ex con. They have to kidnap the girlfriend of El Commandante, and this is the only way to save his life, but then the girl they kidnap is someone else. Grave mistake. What happens next? Read on and discover the fun there could be in a life of crime, the fears, the exhilarating moments, and a whole lot of entertainment.
At the very start of the story, the reader already knows there will be a lot of laughter in this tale when the narrator says: “The best way to tell if I had a good time is to see how many wadded-up dollar bills I have in my jeans pocket.” Tony Molina is a master entertainer and has crafted a tale that readers will enjoy; dark and clingy in a dangerous kind of way. Toño is a character that readers will love, even if he is a dangerous drug lord. The narrative voice is in the first person, and it literally absorbs the reader, draws the reader irresistibly into the viewpoint of the protagonist and has them following the steamy action till the end. The author combines humor with suspense to make the story a page-turner. The writing is stellar, laced with vivid descriptions of the setting, gorgeous conversations that capture the very linguistic elements of the protagonist and other characters. South Texas Drag is a masterpiece, a work of great entertainment.
