Step into Your Zone: Playbook of Secrets for Peak Performance in Business, Sales, and Life by 'H' John Mejia is a dynamic self-help book packed with solid life strategies. The author uses his own experience and expertise to assist you in taking your life and your career, in sales or otherwise, to the next level. You can enter "the zone"--that space athletes inhabit when they perform even beyond their A-game. It's the zone where everything comes together perfectly and one achieves peak performance and goals. As Meja explains, the zone can be attained by people who aren't athletes but are willing to put in the time and effort to get there. This is the perfect how-to book for those launching a new business, making a career change, starting over due to unforeseen circumstances--Covid-19?--or just anyone wanting to up their game and push themselves harder than they ever have before.

What I like most about this easily digestible book is that Meja uses these skills in his own life, and explains the ups and downs he's experienced. He's been there, done that, so it isn't as if he's speaking from an academic place. He's lived successes, hard knocks, and the philosophy that he offers to you. A lot of self-help books are useful, of course, but this one has heart and inspiration. The combination comes easily to Meja, who knows how to relay this information so that you too can experience success in the zone. I like that he encourages everyone, not just athletes, and his idea that confidence can be built; it isn't something you're necessarily born with. You can develop it and nurture it. The book's layout is appealing and easy to get through. When you reach the end, you'll feel as if you've learned something that can help you in your life and your career, whatever it is. The images are really inspiring too. Step into Your Zone: Playbook of Secrets for Peak Performance in Business, Sales, and Life by 'H' John Mejia should be on your shortlist of self-help, career-goal books of 2021.

Step into Your Zone: Playbook of Secrets for Peak Performance in Business, Sales, and Life by H John Mejia guides readers into reaching peak levels in their lives. For competitors such as former football player Mejia, the zone is “the coveted space where elite athletes thrive.” For others, the zone is the place where they achieve the greatest success and personal fulfillment in business and in life. Mejia offers many useful tips, such as how to start changing your life now, today, rather than waiting for some artificially created time. He says, wisely, that his readers should start with their end vision. The steps necessary to reach that end will come into place. He suggests that those with a goal don’t have to have a complete plan in place; all they need to do is take one step at a time. Mejia also correctly points out that the goal isn’t the most important consideration; it’s the journey that’s satisfying and fulfilling. He thoroughly illustrates each of his points with many examples taken from his football career.

H John Mejia propounds much beneficial and inspirational information, although he admits that his book breaks little new ground. He writes, “Chances are I’m not telling you anything you haven’t already heard.” But Step into your Zone does remind readers of valuable principles. A point that I related to was Mejia’s story about writing his goals down and then, 15 years later, finding the piece of paper that he’d written on. He found that he had achieved most of his goals. A comparable situation happened in my life, giving added weight to the wisdom of Mejia’s advice on writing goals down. I have one minor criticism of Mejia’s book, which is his tendency to give multiple examples when illustrating his points. But that’s an insignificant flaw in a useful book.

Step Into Your Zone: Playbook of Secrets for Peak Performance in Business, Sales, and Life is a work of non-fiction in the self-help and guidance sub-genres and was penned by author 'H' John Mejia. As the title suggests, this helpful guide to self-improvement uses the metaphor of sports and top athletes to help us all realize our true power. Mejia uses his authentic life experiences and many successes to discuss the highs and lows of life, discovering your zone, and then maximizing your potential for success once you’re in it. What results is an inspirational step by step guide with plenty of practical applications to try.

Author 'H' John Mejia has done it all in his life, and the wealth and variety of experience which he brings to this book does him great credit as an authentic voice. But what’s special about the narrative is the level of empathy he has for others who are still finding their own path, and the motivational and inspirational choice of language which he uses to nurture even those who may have had their confidence knocked by past experiences of failure. The book also has great organizational formatting, which makes it easy to refer back to any topic and try out the advice there, and the inclusion of additional ‘H Zone Advice’ sections adds a new dimension that keeps things fresh. Overall, I would highly recommend Step Into Your Zone as a go-to guidebook for anyone who feels their life could do with a boost in the right direction.

Step Into Your Zone by 'H' John Mejia is an incredibly insightful guide filled with golden nuggets of advice and constructive, helpful suggestions. I loved the personal stories; his journey was inspirational and motivates changes in your own thought processes that will build total belief in your ability. The techniques will really give you clarity and a clear direction on how to set goals and keep going when times get tough. The explanation of the flight or fight response was so vivid and explained in such an unforgettable way. I also gained so much from the idea that our only competition is ourselves and that we must remember this is our journey where we can be our greatest support or worse enemy. I also thought the section that covered gaining perspective when faced with challenges and silencing your inner critic was outstanding. The concept of setting goals with emotions attached to them was brilliant. I now have complete lucidity regarding my ability, what my downfalls have been, and the areas I need to work on. I realize the biggest challenge is what goes on in my mind and how goals can be destroyed if I cannot control what is happening inside there. My favorite quotation from the book is: 'trying to reach the Mount Everest of Opportunity'. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, it was superb.
