Today’s world moves fast, but keeping your cool isn’t always easy when instant gratification isn’t possible. Still Not Freaking Out by Mahendra Vadnere explores how Stoic philosophy teaches people to retrain their minds to navigate life’s modern challenges. It features the writings of Stoic thinkers such as Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus, along with a bit about their lives. One example involves former slave Epictetus, who taught mental freedom. Lessons like that are all connected to ideas around stress, social media, and information overload. Also included are sayings like "I will do my best if nothing prevents me" to help readers focus on what they can control. Other topics covered include relationships, loss, ambition, and everyday habits. Could perspective really be the key to greater peace?

Still Not Freaking Out by Mahendra Vadnere has a simple cover with a tower of stones and a white background, which is what first caught my eye. I kept wondering if it had a meaning of its own. After finishing the book, I think there was. I believe it reflects the importance of simplifying life. I also appreciated learning more about historical figures I only slightly knew of before. I absolutely love quotes, so the mantras were right up my alley. The practical exercises definitely seem useful, too. It is a fast read, and the writing is clear, conversational, and easy to understand. This guide teaches readers to become more disciplined in managing stressors and other factors that overwhelm us. I found the message both useful and thought-provoking. I really enjoy psychology, and I kept thinking about Carl Jung’s words while reading: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate." To me, they perfectly match the book’s message of understanding ourselves better. Anyone interested in Stoicism, personal growth, or finding more peace in a noisy world will want to pick up a copy.
