Stone of Hope is the fourth book in the Stones of Iona series by Margaret Izard. Evie MacDougall, a thirteen-year-old teenager with Fae powers, travels to the National Museum of Science in Miami, Florida, with her family and comes across the Eye of Ra. She accidentally opens up a portal that transports her, her twin brother Ewan, and their uncle Dominic DeVolt back in time to Egypt in the 1930s. The unlikely group finds themselves at the dig of Moira White and in the crosshairs of her rival, the ruthless criminal Pierre Lenoir. Pierre kidnaps Evie, hoping to use her powers to bring the mummy of an ancient pharaoh back to life. Meanwhile, Dom and Moira develop strong feelings for each other. Can Evie and her family fight back against Psusennes' army and stop Pierre's nefarious plans?
If time-traveling, ancient treasure hunt stories are your favorite, Stone of Hope is just the book for you. This adventure tale is jam-packed with action, romance, magic, and mythological lore. Margaret Izard has woven a fascinating yarn layered with mystery, suspense, and intrigue. Moving the story at a brisk pace, the author creates a captivating narrative that will entertain a broad range of readers -- from young adult action-adventure lovers to older readers who are fans of fantasy and romance. The characters and the relationship dynamics between them are the heart and soul of this story. I loved the relationship between Dom and Moira, as well as Evie's blossoming romance with the young Fae boy. All in all, it's a fantastic addition to the Stones of Iona series. Recommended to readers of action-adventure fantasy and romance!
