Stones of Fire by Alan Joseph takes the reader into the fascinating world of the ocean and later on Israel, introduces a variety of historical theories, and keeps the reader turning one page after the other. It all begins when Sean finds a strange amulet and a shipwreck while he recovered the camera of a tourist scuba diver. He tells his friend and "boss" about it and soon a professional team of divers examines the wreck. Soon the team finds out that this is more than just a normal wreck and a Russian cartel suddenly also seems to be interested in the wreck and the secrets it may hold. Did Sean find something that is connected to the mysterious treasure of King Solomon?
Stones of Fire by Alan Joseph is a very exciting book and I enjoyed reading it very much. At first I was a bit sceptical because I was worried that it would all just be about diving and ship wrecks - but there is a lot more to the story and all the different aspects of the story (underwater, on the water, on the land, overseas etc.) are well balanced and it never gets boring. The characters are well written (as is the whole book) but I disliked some of them which is not necessarily a bad thing.
I enjoyed the flow of the book and the depth of information that was provided. It is quite obvious that Alan Joseph did a lot of research and he presented all the information in a very interesting way. The book did not only entertain me, but also gave some insight into a history I did not know much about.
