Lisa Eugene’s “Strictly Business” gets right to it in the first scene; starting from the packed ER where Dr. Nina meets Wade. Our two main characters move into a private examination room where they play an adult game of love! Eugene’s hot and steamy description of the scene would make anyone more willing to go to the doctor’s office for a check-up! Of course, no romance is complete without its trials and tribulations – both Nina and Wade have a job to do, and they won’t let the other stand in the way of getting to the bottom of the deadly mystery in “Strictly Business.”

I have really enjoyed the character of Nina; Eugene writes her as a fully capable human being instead of a 2-dimensional foil to the lead male character Wade. Nina is a strong-willed woman who does not let her libido make her decisions for her. She also refuses to stand idly by while others put themselves in danger investigating corruption and murder. I found this to be a great story with a romantic twist thrown in the mix, instead of a romance with just a hint of plot line. This was a very well-written piece that I would recommend to any fan of contemporary romances where the woman has more going on for her than a heaving bosom! I would highly recommend this story to any of my friends, especially those with more experience in the medical fields – it is a contemporary story set in a place that is easy to recognize, as opposed to a pirate ship, castle, or other faraway lands.

It is just another hectic Saturday night in the ER for Nina Hensley, who normally never looks twice at a patient, that is until smoulderingly handsome Wade Connolly comes in. When he catches her staring at him she is mortified, because she always keeps it "strictly business" where the patients are concerned. It is spontaneous combustion from the minute they meet, and Nina agrees to a date. When she learns that he is a medical malpractice attorney and that his case involves her hospital's X-Ray Dept. she feels used, even though he tries to convince her that isn't the case. When she finds herself the target of whoever is behind the crime, Wade takes it upon himself to keep her safe, by moving her into his apartment. Nina decides she can't fight what she feels for Wade and tries to keep her heart out of the mix. Will they figure out who is behind the bogus MRI's, and what about the relationship between Nina and Wade? Is it just a casual fling or something more?

The unlikely pairing of a medical malpractice lawyer and a physician provides a unique read. Lisa Eugene provides more than just another steamy romance novel with "Strictly Business"; she also creates a page turning mystery that isn't easy to solve. I honestly didn't figure out who the guilty party was until Nina did. Along with the mystery were several instances of suspense that really took the story to another level! The author provides a plot that moves along at a brisk pace. Never once did I feel it lag; instead there were times I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what might happen next. Because of the clear, accurate descriptions of the ER, it was easy to see that the author had done her research in this area. I could easily imagine the hustle and bustle and the patients that were described. Nina and Wade were so alike and they did their jobs in such a way that they could help others. His back story of losing his aunt was especially touching. Along with the main characters there are several secondary characters that really jump off the pages. Nina's parents are totally outstanding. I found myself laughing out loud on more than a few occasions where they were concerned. Nina's best friend Sally is very well-created and totally believable. Great characters, a fast-paced plot, a very well-written mystery, and a smoking hot romance make this a must read for anyone who enjoys a great contemporary read!

"Strictly Business" is the way Dr. Nina Henley wants to keep her relationship with Wade Connolly. She first met him while doing her shift in the emergency room of a large hospital. Nina has worked hard to become a physician and is due for what she hopes will be a promotion to senior status in the emergency room. After a long evening shift, her friend and co-worker Sally assigns the tall, dark and handsome man with the injured arm to Nina. This is one of her never-ending efforts to get Nina a love interest. Nina is not interested after her disastrous last affair but still finds Wade totally irresistible. She is shocked by her response to him in the consulting room and appalled when she learns that he is a medical malpractice attorney.

This book is a lot of fun. Nina and Wade are well-defined characters who are complemented by Nina's oddball parents, her friend Sally, and Wade's law school buddies. Their romance is quite physical but author Lisa Eugene handles the steamy episodes with skill and taste. There is also an exciting mystery running throughout "Strictly Business" which adds suspense and action to the mix. I found myself enjoying every bit of the story and laughing out loud at a few of the humorous situations. This is probably the best sensual writing I have run across, and I'm a fairly prodigious reader. If you are a devotee of what some call clean romance, steer clear of "Strictly Business"; for everyone else, it is highly recommended.
