Stu the hippo is excited for his birthday party and he’s even more excited to see all of his friends there, having fun. But when a storm rolls in and the lights go out, he realizes that his friends are nowhere to be seen, at least nothing but their eyes can be seen. Stu is happy they all showed up, but how will he ever know who they are if he’s unable to see anything but their eyes in the dark? Stu’s Big Party is about to start, but he’s not sure how to recognize his friends and find out who was able to come.

This book is definitely good for small children. It has excellent quality pictures and also features some really great animals. Stu has a wonderful personality and he has a very cute message for children - everyone is the same. Parents will enjoy reading this book to their kids and their kids will love hearing it as well. It’s also great because the words are small and there are only a few on a page. This makes it easier for small children to follow along and even learn to read this book all by themselves more quickly. I would definitely read this book to any young child and I just know that they would love it. Excellent art and an excellent story make for a perfect bedtime story for children. Get ready for a new bedtime classic with Stu’s Big Party by Patti Brassard Jefferson.
