Supertide by Steven F. Freeman is a disaster thriller that will keep you sitting on the edge of the seat and holding your breath. A deadly tsunami shakes the east coast, and Dr. Case knows this is not the only one. According to his research, a series of earthquakes are about to shake the earth to its core. His worst nightmares become reality when a second devastating tsunami hits the other side of the US. Dr. Case and his assistant Macy know that the disaster is just beginning. However, when tragedy strikes, Macy has to take the lead and guide the authorities in the right direction. She needs to make FEMA take her seriously and make sure they take measures in time to save as many lives as possible. But will they ever? Can she predict the right tectonic movements to save lives?
Fast-paced and perfectly developed, the action never stops in Supertide, and relentlessly grows until the end. Novels telling a tale of disaster can be a bit over the top, but not this one. Steven F. Freeman seamlessly moves the story forward and gives readers just enough to make them want more. Macy is the right protagonist to direct the plot. She is human enough to be nervous but confident enough to know what she is talking about. The topic is something new for me and not something that I am familiar with, so I took my time. However, the story got my attention, and the more I read the more I realized that I loved it. It had the right amount of action, details, and plot to make me love it. A must-read for thriller fans.
