Susie Sloth and Her Secret Superpower is a wonderfully packaged tale written by Charlotte J. Marsh and illustrated by Charlotte Watkins. Susie Sloth spends every day in a tree. Although she moves slowly, Susie has a superpower that is a well-kept secret. While climbing her tree, Susie sees orangutans playing, a cheetah, a giraffe, a scorpion, a snake, an elephant, and even a monkey hanging from a tree branch by its tail. As each of the animals divulges their secrets to Susie, she returns the favor by sharing her secret with them. You see, although sloths are slow on land, they swim quite fast. They can even hold their breath under the water for up to 40 minutes which is very impressive indeed!
As someone who loves both animals and trivia, Susie Sloth's story took me completely by surprise! Charlotte J. Marsh's amazing story of how Susie's superpower was not only revealed to her new animal friends but is also sure to impress most readers of Susie Sloth and Her Secret Superpower. It was interesting to learn the secrets of many of the other animal species, but none as much as that of a sloth. The multitude of different species on the planet has so many facts about them that children will delight in learning as they read this book. The interactive Pilates diagrams of movements and breathing exercises will also enrich the minds and bodies not only of young readers who are just starting their lifelong journey of reading but also of readers of many ages. I recommend this book to readers aged five and upward. What a wonderfully well-written tale!
