Taffy the Turtle: See Something, Say Something by Karlene J. Froling is an educational picture book for young children. Taffy the Turtle is preparing for her class picture day. She is so excited and even wears the hat Gramma T gave her. Picture day arrives and Taffy heads to school. When she arrives at class, Taffy sees one of her classmates eating peanuts. Eating peanuts in class is against the rules because Pippy Pufferfish is allergic. Taffy does the right thing and tells her teacher Miss Angelfish. Pippy is sent to the nurse's office and Taffy is labeled a tattletale. On her way home, Taffy sees something that she feels she must speak up about because it could lead to something dangerous happening. Taffy doubts herself and can't decide what to do. What should Taffy decide and what would you do in this situation?
Taffy the Turtle is an enjoyable book that children are going to love and learn from. It teaches children that they should always speak up when they see something wrong happening. The author includes a phrase children can remember more easily: "See something, say something" which I found to be very useful in helping them soak up the information. Karlene J. Froling has a talent for writing children's content, knows how to attract the reader's attention from the very first page, and the illustrations are adorable. I loved every word Karlene has written and hope to see more from her soon. Keep up the good work, and stay creative!
