The Moose Smooch by Stacy Taylor is a picture book about Moose, a lovable dog whose one favorite thing in the world is a big doggie smooch. From the opening pages, Moose is shown enjoying hugs and scratches, but it is his joyful kisses that truly define his day. The story unfolds through a series of cheerful encounters in a park and neighborhood, where Moose meets people of all ages. A baby reaches out to shake his paw, a grandma pauses from reading to offer affection, and a friendly girl stops for a photo. Each moment ends with Moose’s signature smooch and a humorous taste connection, such as applesauce, peppermint, or strawberry gelato. As Moose continues, he greets a little boy with a balloon, a man playing bongos, and even twins at a picnic, spreading warmth wherever he goes.

Stacy Taylor’s writing style is light and suited for reading aloud, with short lines that bounce along like Moose himself. The pacing is quick and episodic, making it ideal for young listeners with busy attention spans, while the repeated “smooch!” provides a satisfying refrain that children will want to echo. Bego Corbalán’s vector illustrations are colorful, filled with warmth, motion, and playful details, especially in the swirling backgrounds that match each flavor-themed kiss. The book’s charm comes from its simplicity, pairing affection with silly snack associations. Readers who enjoy dog stories, gentle comedy, and interactive picture books with repetition will find The Moose Smooch a nice choice, especially for families looking for a cozy story about friendship and joy.

The Moose Smooch by Stacy Taylor is a delightful picture book about Moose, a well-loved dog. He enjoys tummy rubs, big hugs, and scratching, but what he loves the most is giving big, wet smooches to everyone he meets. He licks the baby girl playing with her ball, the grandma reading on a bench at the side of the road, the friendly lady stopping to take a picture, the skipping boy, the drumming man, and the happy twins. The tale ends with a sweet twist when Moose spots another dog and discovers he's found his match.

Moose is a contagiously happy dog who loves everybody and finds joy in playing and slobbering all over his friends. True to his good nature, he only bothers you if you want him to. This book stands out for the way it captures each character's reactions when Moose gives them his huge, wet kisses: Grandma looked scandalized, but the lady taking a picture, and the drumming man were delighted! The picnicking twins were carefree and joyous, while the skipping boy was not expecting it. Bego Corbalán’s illustration brought their personalities and expressions to life, and the foods they taste like match their personalities so well. The Moose Smooch by Stacy Taylor is the perfect gift for any kid who loves dogs and animals. The vibrant visuals, brief lines, and flowing rhymes make it a light-hearted and captivating read for any child. With Moose spreading happiness on every page, The Moose Smooch is bound to make everyone smile.

The Moose Smooch, written by Stacy Taylor and beautifully illustrated by Bego Corbalán, is a fun read. Moose is actually a brown Labrador. He enjoys being showered with attention. Hence, hugs and kisses from admirers are all well received. However, what he enjoys the most is giving kisses. Every person he kisses tastes different, but they are all delicious. For example, a little girl tastes like apples, and a little boy tastes like peanut butter. As this story is set in a park, there is potential for Moose to encounter a diverse group of people. It's fun to discover what everyone he kisses will taste like. Also, how will they react to his big doggie smooch? The Moose Smooch is definitely worth reading to find out.

I really enjoyed reading The Moose Smooch by Stacy Taylor. I am confident that the intended audience will also be delighted to read and reread this new entry in the Moose Tracks Tales series. The illustrations are simply adorable. I appreciate that they add depth to the story. The varied use of font types and colors was also a fun touch that helps young readers interact with the words on the pages in a fun way. I also love the use of the varied rhyme schemes throughout the story. This is a short read with a satisfying ending. I look forward to more stories featuring Moose in interesting adventures. I highly recommend The Moose Smooch to all readers, especially children and dog lovers.
