Take Me by Lee Roberts begins with a dramatic moment when Adriana stops the sale of a young Mexican girl into sexual slavery. A fearless young police officer on beach patrol, Adriana chooses to go undercover to reveal the dark trade of human trafficking. She operates against the backdrop of a vicious world, with the serial killer “Juan the Ripper” murdering young Mexican prostitutes from the streets of Central Texas. Things escalate when she is kidnapped and her partner left in a terrible condition. Events ensue that are as intriguing as they are nerve-racking as Adriana struggles to build trust with her captor and save the girls. What happens when she develops an attraction for the man who holds her captive?
Deftly plotted and skillfully written, Take Me is a thriller that is psychologically and emotionally rich. Adriana is an interesting female protagonist and readers will fear for her life. The story is suspenseful and emotionally engaging, with twists that no one can see coming. Lee Roberts’ writing is very professional and focused, with well-described scenes and a lot of drama taking place in the story. Character development is impeccable and I liked Adriana the moment I met her in the opening pages. The crisp writing is enriched by well-crafted and entertaining dialogues, filled with witticism and humor. This is a thriller that will appeal to fans of detective stories and novels with strong themes. It is balanced, deft, and exciting, filled with drama and action.
