Take Me With You: One Person’s Journey to Find the Charity Within by Scott Jackson is a heartbreaking, heartwarming, powerful story that follows a young man’s personal and inner transformation as he breaks the cycle of abuse at home, running off and working hard to become one of the most influential persons with the power to affect the lives of many people. It is the inspiring, transformational story of the CEO of Global Impact. Growing up outside Kansas City, the young Scott was accustomed to seeing his mother physically abused by his father. This was during the Civil Rights Movement, so one night he made the decision to run away, but he wasn’t to be alone. This decision will transform his mother's life, as well as those of many other people around him.
Here is a story that brilliantly showcases the power of positive thinking, of faith in one’s self, and the desire to grow into a better person. Scott Jackson’s memoir is told in a compelling first person narrative, a riveting story set against an equally compelling setting with a lot of historical events taking place. What was it that made this young man succeed after running off at the tender age of fourteen? What was at the heart of his beliefs that transformed him into the loving, compassionate, and great leader that he is? This memoir provides surprising answers to these questions and illustrates with clarity that anyone can beat the way they have been conditioned to think, and choose to nurture what comes so naturally to humans — love — and transform it into a guiding principle for their life. I was both shaken and delighted as I read this gripping memoir, but it is the lessons in Take Me With You: One Person’s Journey to Find the Charity Within that had me spellbound.
