High school friends, Sophie and Pete, do not know how to function in a world without one another. They have always had one another’s back, so when Sophie’s marriage to Seth dissolves, Pete is waiting in the wings to catch her. And it’s just like old times, except now Pete has to endure her tantalizing presence under his own roof when Sophie agrees to be his roommate while the legalities of divorce are decided. Seth is dangerous. Seth, the school bully, is not ready to relinquish his hold on his wife. Seth was never the romantic match that anyone, with Pete at the top of the list, expected Sophie to choose. In an effort to keep Sophie safe from the clutches of her soon-to-be ex-husband, Pete agrees to accompany her to their ten year high school class reunion. Maybe reuniting with old friends will distract her. Maybe Pete will finally find his own soul mate. Maybe the two of them will realize the truth that they have danced around each other for ten years.
Ten Year Dance by Ara Grigorian is a delicious tale of the glory days. Grigorian’s use of realistic language is both amusing and engaging. Full- bodied characters and visually pleasing images set the stage for a seemingly light read that readers can and will reflect on for some time after turning the final page. This is such a good story! If you are interested in a trip down Memory Lane, Ten Year Dance is the perfect story to fall into.
