Ethan is a sentient software who always dreams of visiting the real world which he can only glimpse through the Internet. His wish comes true when he is granted access into the Flesh. However, the procedure is not without a hefty cost. When his father’s income and assets are frozen due to a corruption charge, he becomes unable to pay for time in his body. Not willing to lose his new life that he has grown attached to, Ethan would do anything to prevent it from happening. Terms of Life is written by Ayami Tyndall.

It took me quite a number of pages –- and a couple of rereads -- to really grasp what Terms of Life is all about. Even so, it is a pleasant, quick read with a tight plot and excellent characterization. Ethan's story is intriguing –- a human that goes digital, and then back to human by accessing the Flesh or getting a body. It is an interesting perspective for a plot that is creatively written by author Ayami Tyndall. It also touches on subjects such as humanity, discovering oneself, and friendship.

On the other hand, it needs a more polished editing. As I already mentioned, I did struggle to get a firm grasp of the story, thus some parts of the novella needs more clarity. All things considered, it is still a solid and engaging read. If you are looking for a distinctive point of view regarding digitization of the human mind, give this science fiction tale a go.
