The Adventures of Charlie and Kaylee by Terri Callsen is an adventure story about Charlie and Kaylee's hunting experiences. They are always learning skills that enhance their penchant for wilderness exploration and hunting.

I enjoyed the book thoroughly because it is adventurous. I thought the story indirectly introduces young readers to many animals. The concept of the book and the educational theme make the book attractive to a young audience. The black bear, mule deer, elk, lynx, grizzly bear, cougar, caribou, and bighorn sheep take the reader to an adventurous world of known and unknown animals. I found it a fascinating journey through the eyes of Charlie and Kaylee. Some of the animal names will be new for readers and that makes it a learning experience, too.

The Young Sportsman's Club is the other angle which the author introduces in the story. It is here where Charlie and Kaylee learn fishing and hunting skills. It reiterates the children's eagerness for adventures and outdoor activities. Their eagerness to enhance their outdoor skills is conveyed adeptly. Hunting adventures can always capture the attention of any child. The descriptive wilderness experiences are narrated very well by the author.

Kaylee and Charlie are also two characters whom you tend to love by the end of the book. Their courageous and kind natures stand out throughout the story. Books with dual or more purposes are good for children because they learn a lot that way.
