The Adventures of Polecat by Steve and Debie Baker is a fun book about a meerkat who found his way onto an airplane. He got off the plane when it landed in Spokane, Washington. He was hungry and went in search of food but the cars on the road scared him. He saw a basketball hoop. He crawled up the pole and the four young boys who came to shoot some hoops saw him. They named him Polecat. This collection of short stories is interactive and will pull in young readers. While some stories have to be completed, there are others where a picture has to be drawn and colored. What a wonderful way of igniting the imaginations of young readers; to make them more creative by giving them the freedom to write their own story!

Steve and Debie Baker have a unique approach and what makes the short stories appealing is the way children can interpret and add their own narration and illustrations to complete a story and make it eye-catching. Danielle Mathews' illustrations are colorful and lively and she sets the tone for readers to create their own illustrations to make the story exciting. The short stories have fun, adventure, and action and are a good tool to make the minds of youngsters grow as they write the endings. The Adventures of Polecat is a good book for tutors to use in classrooms for interactive sessions. Students will think and become creative when given the freedom to express themselves, interpret, and add their input to a story.
