The Adventures Of Stupid The Cat by Brenda Borders and Bruce A. Borders is a fun and entertaining story for all children, especially cat lovers. Chips is picked up one stormy night by a girl who tells the cat that it's going to live with a family of humans. Chips is happy living with the girls, though at times they dress him up in dolls' clothes and a hat. As the story progresses, readers get to know more about Chips, his mischief and his life with humans. Written from the perspective of Chips, the story makes us understand how cats think.
The story is humorous and the author's descriptions are detailed, making the characters and scenes come alive. It helps all those readers who have cats as pets on how they think. It's a good bedtime storybook for kids and can also be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The black and white sketches are lovely and they complement the author's words beautifully. Chips is adorable and will make many readers want a cat as their pet. This charming book will make readers laugh and look forward to more adventures from Stupid the Cat.
The writing style is simple, neat and elegant. I like the idea of writing a story from the cat's point of view. It connects well with and is palpable to readers. The excerpts at the end from Borders' book The Little Green Man in the Red Apple Tree is an added treat. A delightful storybook for children.
