The Angel with Burnt Wings by Scarlett Jensen is the story of Alice and her descent from an angel to the pits of hell. At a young age, Alice was molested and raped. Fearing negative reaction and rejection, she didn't tell anyone about it. Instead she looked for acceptance in all the wrong places and got tangled up with bad people. There is one man she thought will love her unconditionally but he only used her to get out of prison. Alice, under the instructions from the man, formed a gang to do armed robberies and other crimes to come up with the money to bail out this man. At nineteen, she went to prison where she will learn that acceptance, love, and forgiveness, with the help of God should come from herself.

One thing that was going through my mind while reading this story was that, wow she is a strong, commendable woman. Another is that a support system is really important when facing difficulties. She suffered and made many wrong decisions, spent her time living in fear and sadness but she came out wiser and stronger. This book is for anyone who feels shackled, not just the literal meaning, but for anyone who feels like they are tied up in something and can’t get free. Scarlett Jensen wrote the chapters like lessons or steps to follow to get to freedom. We all feel the way Alice felt in the book, so we should also learn from her experiences.

I have just finished reading your book. I doubt if there is anybody in the entire world who will not be moved by reading it. We are all angels with burnt wings in one way or the other, but with a strong will for good, kindness and love, we can all not only survive, but live live to the fullest. Thank you for your wisdom.

The Angel with Burnt Wings is a true reflection of shackled lives behind the media's publicity - seeking headlines that strike a whole country from time to time. Remember the gripping stories of sexual abuse, downfall of a golden girl, sex web, shackles and shame, ganster's moll, Bonnie and Clyde-like story, the soul of a robber child, burning passion and devotion to a dominant lover. The Angel with Burnt Wings is a docu-drama, a fictional account of the real life experiences. A woman survives molestation, rape, prostitution, addiction, even crime,....eventually overcomes these horrific handicaps to a life worth living in every aspect of that concept. It is a riveting literary work. It is an ultimately unforgettable and rewarding read.

Re: Official Review: The Angel with Burnt Wings

Post Number:#2  by Scarlett Jensen » less than a minute agoI refer to the second last sentence of the review above. "laying blame on their families who are not able to give the kids a secure childhood".The above is a generalization. The theme of the book does not accommodate fixed resolutions or declarations. Thus it should rather read:"Kids who commit self-destructive acts or crime are vulnerable and parents should be vigilant to identify such behaviour in order to procure them a secure childhood."Families are not describe as the cause (blamed) but are regarded to be the safety net every kid requires.Scarlett Jensen:Author of The Angel with Burnt Wings
