The Battle Angels by A.S. Thomas is a fantasy drama about powerful warriors who battle against monsters born from human negativity. Emelie is haunted by the past and keeps her identity as a Battle Angel a secret from her husband and children. However, one day, monsters emerge from the built-up anger from her stepson Darius. Her daughters Sofine and Delphine’s Battle Angel powers awaken, and they defeat the monsters. Emelie trains her daughters, and along the way, they pick up other Battle Angels, Hailey and Octavia, who awaken before their eyes. They are a team and support each other during hard times. As Emelie begins to adapt to the new dynamics of her life, she learns of her real family and origins; however, she and Sofine suddenly go missing, which puts their lives in danger.

The Battle Angels is an action-packed drama that introduces readers to a special group of heroes. The book is very interesting as it deals with social issues that affect teenagers every day, such as bullying, emotions and anger, and drama in their families. The author is very descriptive in terms of describing the battle scenes. My favorite parts are when the Battle Angels undergo their transformation. Each character’s powers really fit who they are. A.S. Thomas does a great job bringing the world of the story to life. Anyone who loves fantasy will enjoy this read. Creatures like centaurs and hybrids of bears and scorpions make an appearance. Underneath all the drama, there is a real message about accepting yourself, trusting your friends, and stepping up even when you are scared. This is just the start of the journey, and I cannot wait to see where these characters go next. If you enjoy stories with a mix of mythological elements, action, and emotional growth, then include this book on your reading list.

The Battle Angels: The Awakening by A.S. Thomas follows Emelie McLurkin, a Battle Angel, a nonhuman warrior who lives among humans while secretly fighting monsters generated by concentrated human emotion. When her daughters, Sofine and Delphine, awaken as Battle Angels themselves, Emelie must train them to survive battles that erase civilian memory while keeping their existence hidden from the world. As their abilities mature, other Battle Angels emerge, revealing that Emelie’s family is part of a larger lineage governed by forces beyond Earth—but everything changes again when they return to the planet Adiaforía. Separated across worlds, those left on Earth confront the truth about Battle Angels while Emelie faces a transformation that threatens to cut her off from the life she has built and the daughters she was trying to protect.

A.S. Thomas’s The Battle Angels takes a bold premise and grounds it in everyday life, which is where I feel this book really shines. These women fight monsters, yes, but they also juggle children, jobs, and exhausted drives home, and that contrast makes it feel so real. The science fiction elements are substantial, and we get brilliant components, like a hidden alien ship and its AI overseer, complete with full-scale city simulations. Even then, the story returns to domestic reality. Emelie is a fierce mother whose preparedness is hardcore, but that's how it goes when, while crossing a rain-soaked highway at night, shadows transform a familiar road into a battlefield. Emperor Astrophel serves as the antagonist through dynastic entitlement and coercive hospitality, positioning Adiaforía as both a court and a trap. This is a solid launch into a new speculative fiction series, and I'm excited to see where it goes next. Very highly recommended.

The Battle Angels: The Awakening by A.S. Thomas centers on Emelie, who looks like any other mom and wife on the outside. Truth is, she’s a Battle Angel—her senses are sharp, and she can change into a powerful, mythical fighter whenever danger comes close. For a while, Emelie keeps that part of herself hidden. But once her daughters, Sofine and Delphine, start showing the same abilities, keeping secrets isn’t an option anymore. Emelie trains them, and the girls soon realize their talents aren’t identical. When they fight together, their powers actually mix and get stronger. Things get interesting when Hailey, a schoolmate, suddenly discovers her own battle angel powers in the middle of a monster attack. The group pulls her in without hesitation. Not long after, Octavia—who can hear people’s thoughts—awakens her abilities too and joins the team. Things take a turn when Sofine comes across a male battle angel who claims to be Emelie’s brother Raphael, from Adiaforía. Emelie and Sofine join him on a journey, and although his actions seem noble, she senses that something is off and does not trust him.

The Battle Angels: The Awakening is the first book in this captivating series, and it presents an exciting science fiction tale that features action, mythical creatures, and teenage drama. A.S. Thomas uses intriguing and tense moments and shocking plot twists to grab the reader's attention. The story mainly focuses on the awakening of the battle angels, their training with Emelie, and learning about their powers. You can almost feel the chaos and adrenaline with every fight scene. I like how all the girls have unique powers and are cautioned about the dangers of negative emotions. Their world also has special rules like memory erasing of battles for civilians and what marks an angel's awakening. I am curious about Emelie’s husband and her home planet. I hope these topics are explored in the next book. I enjoyed this story. I think it lays a great foundation for the series, and I am looking forward to reading more about these characters.

A dark cosmic power is rising from the depths in A.S. Thomas’s The Battle Angels. All those legends and bedtime stories about the lurking monsters, the fabled Battle Angels, and their mysterious spaceship are true. Dr. Emelie Mclurkin and her twin daughters come from a long line of Warrior Angels who, for years, have secretly protected the human world from the monsters. The girls’ powers are awakening, and Emelie is determined to train them to become skilled, experienced fighters like herself. But the darkness is closing in fast. Neither Emelie, her warrior daughters, nor the rest of humanity can escape the Hell about to erupt.

Gripping suspense, pulse-pounding supernatural chaos, and monsters await readers inside this book. A.S. Thomas’s blend of masterful twists and haunting revelations of things to come pulls you even deeper into this new world of terror. The monsters are terrifying, and the attacks all feel believable and disturbingly real. You feel the fear of what may be lurking in the waves by the beach and can almost hear the unearthly shrieks and troubled screams in the dead of night. There’s constant danger, as enemies fight with everything deadly, from fireballs and towering rings of molten lava to mythological beasts whose presence spells death and horror. It’s epic and unputdownable, right up to the shocking ending. Beneath the captivating action, setting, and larger-than-life characters, The Battle Angels is a tale about how far we can go to protect those we hold dear, about forgiveness, second chances, and love and hope. It’s compelling and well told, a must-read for all fans of epic high-fantasy adventures, mystery-packed thrillers, and stories featuring beings from other planets. Dive in now!
