The BC Killer (Tyler Kane Legal Thriller Book 2) by Michael Pickford tells the story of lawyer Tyler Kane as he represents a client who appears to be the prime suspect in a brutal murder. Add to that a child kidnapping and a series of mysterious slayings, and Kane finds himself embroiled in the life of a serial killer. Strange markings on the victims confuse the authorities until Kane and his assistant, Leann, and his friend, Earl, gradually unravel the strange clues that the killer is leaving. So not only is he working for the main suspect, but he receives a strange reference from a homeless man who claims to know something about Kane’s wife’s death.
This is a real treat of a read, with lots of twists and turns that take the reader by surprise and keep them avidly reading to the end. Tyler Kane is a very credible lawyer, who labels himself as a Personal Solicitor rather than a lawyer who works in a specific field, preferring to take on one client at a time and give his full attention to representation of that client. But there is so much going on in this novel that Kane is torn in many directions, not least of which is doubting the innocence of his own client. A great cast, a plot that keeps the reader guessing to the end, and well-written and well-developed characters result in this being an enjoyable read, especially for those who enjoy a good thriller, and because Kane is such an appealing character, the series should do well.
