The Best New True Crime Stories: Unsolved Crimes and Mysteries by Mitzi Szereto is a compendium of some of the many unsolved crimes and mysteries. We all expect crimes to be solved but many never do, going cold over time and raising plenty of questions. This is a collection of dark crimes that have never been solved, including France’s “Valley of Hell,” Julia Wallace, John Favara, and many more. Unsolved crimes leave families, friends, and the police without closure, with justice not served, and no way to move on. This book brings those stories back to life, back into the minds of everyone who reads them. They are contributed by many non-fiction authors.
The Best New True Crime Stories: Unsolved Crimes and Mysteries is a well-written compendium of stories, some of them quite mysterious, while others were heartbreaking for those involved. I don’t think many people realize just how many crimes go unsolved every year and many of them sink into obscurity, never to be heard of again. Books like this one by Mitzi Szereto bring those stories back into the public domain in the hope that someone, somewhere might just know something that could help solve them. I don’t have a favorite story. I loved them all and as a real fan of true crime, this has to be one of my favorite books yet. Each story is complete and written in an engaging way to draw you in, making sure you remember them long after you’ve finished reading. Great book, highly recommended for all fans of crime stories, true or otherwise.
