In a world where information multiplies at warp speed, we tend to think we are too smart or too academically evolved to accept the veracity of the Bible or concepts like "Intelligent Design". Ron Rhodes, in his comprehensive book "The Big Book of Bible Answers" addresses those issues and many others. He begins by building a strong foundational support for the authority of scripture by looking at the plethora of archeological discoveries confirming specific sites in the Bible and the overwhelming manuscript evidence for it as well. Rhodes takes time to delve into the fascinating use of idioms, euphemisms and acrostics by the biblical authors and the various translations of the Bible available today. But, he affirms that the necessary criteria for reading and understanding the scriptures is the work of the Holy Spirit "illuminating our minds." He writes, ". . . human reasoning has limitations. Finite minds cannot possibly understand everything there is to know about an infinite being."
"The Big Book of Bible Answers" covers a tremendous amount of valuable information about the Bible, and the mysterious concepts of the triune God, the virgin birth, election, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But the author also thoughtfully answers some of the dilemmas currently facing true believers, such as: the ordination of women, worship styles, tithing, capital punishment, homosexuality and abortion. Rhodes discusses baptism and communion, looks at angels and demons, and discusses heaven and hell. If you are seeking answers to any of these issues, you will most probably find a satisfactory answers to your questions somewhere on the pages of this book.
