The Big Picture: An Honest Examination of God, Science, and Purpose by P.D. Hemsley will take readers on a journey of exploration of science, religion and God. Instead of being argumentative and authoritative about the topic, the author has presented facts with reason. The book also gives evidence from science and history, and also from ancient thinkers. It is a good book for those who want to start living a purposeful life. It discusses the findings of science and explains science, philosophy and religion with clarity. The book conveys the simple message of loving others, and pursuing goodness and wholeness. The historical evidence for Jesus, and the content and context of the gospel documents are also discussed.

What I liked about the book is that it distances itself from the dogmas and intolerance that have made Christianity unpopular. The author's opinion is presented to readers in a manner that does not sound forced and gives them the freedom to form their own opinions. The book also covers the topics of science and religion extensively and expansively. The interlinking of science and religion and how they work together is interesting. Praying, repenting, God and His graciousness and the wonders of creation, stars and the galaxies form the basic themes. Though the book contains the author's personal opinions on the topic, he does not ask readers to agree wholly with his opinions. Changing habits and changing beliefs also help readers in being open about their choices when it comes to science and religion.
