“You’re special. You’re unique. You know, just like everybody else.” These are among the first words readers are greeted with when they open The Blond JESUS-ISMS: 10 Inspired Stories of Miracles and Strength by Garrett Miller, and these words already spell out a warning: this isn’t going to be your run-of-the-mill inspirational book where you get a lot of hogwash fed into your head, making you believe that you are what you are not. In a humorous, down-to-earth and matter-of-fact tone, the author shares stories inspired by real life events about success and failure, frustration and rejection, stories that are rooted in realism. Through each story, the narrator wakes readers up to face their reality if they want to make a difference and he does so brutally at times, because some people can be so headstrong that you have to knock sense into them.
You’ll love this book and you will laugh through it, but don’t let the humor keep you laughing so you forget why this book was written in the first place. It was written with only one purpose — at least I found just one: wake the reader up! Combining street smarts with the best storytelling skills, the author offers wonderful treats to readers. The witticism is strong and the writing is filled with insightful passages and quotable lines that will enrich the reader’s thought processes. It is hard to read through a page without finding oneself in the narrative. Garrett Miller has a gift for words and the precision of the writing will hit the reader in the right areas of their lives. The Blond JESUS-ISMS: 10 Inspired Stories of Miracles and Strength is a wonderful read, both inspiring and entertaining, hilarious and utterly delightful.
