The Bully Squad is a work of fiction penned by author Neil Shieldman in the science fiction, cyberpunk adventure, and action subgenres, and is the opening novel of the Time Knight Saga. The work is best suited to adult readers owing to the presence of explicit language and scenes of violence. The action centers around Phaedric Countess, who is kidnapped on his last day of school by an intergalactic Official and taken to a detention satellite meant to reform bullies. His tough sister, determined to bring him home, embarks on a daring mission, willing to break laws if necessary to rescue him.
Author Neil Shieldman has crafted a truly thrilling sci-fi adventure that brings together heartwarming family dynamics, sudden suspense, and intergalactic intrigue to create a compelling narrative that never lets up. The protagonist's plight and his sister's unwavering determination to save him work as a strong central core for us to hang our emotional hopes on. I also really appreciated the authentic LGBTQ+ themes and plot lines that resonate strongly with this fascinating world. The character narration is smoothly penned with charming and dynamic dialogue touches that really allow you to warm to this duo fast. The fast-paced plot and well-developed characters drew me in and kept me guessing with every chapter. I found the conclusion satisfying but with a lot of new questions that left me excited and eager to discover what adventures await in future installments. Overall, The Bully Squad is a captivating read that combines action, heart, and imagination, making it a must-read for fans of science fiction and adventure novels.
