The Cage by Danielle Bannister is a heart-pounding psychological thriller. Amanda Jackson has spent her life surrounded by toxic men. Connor Brooks is a gorgeous property manager, a man who should have raised all of Amanda’s red flags. But, desperate for a place to stay, she opts to look at an apartment he has advertised. That’s all Connor has to do – place one ad and reel them in. When Amanda sets foot inside the apartment, she knows her fate is sealed. She’s trapped. Connor watches her on the monitors, waiting for the right time. Amanda only has one way out – she must make Connor fall in love with her. Can Amanda work her magic and escape from the cage before it’s too late?

The Cage is the first in a new series of psychological thrillers by Danielle Bannister, and it will have you on the edge of your seat. It is quite violent in places, but that’s not surprising, given the subject, and it is definitely an adult-only read. The tension ramps up gradually as the story moves on and takes you on a wild but terrifying journey through the world of human trafficking. Be warned, this book may be a real trigger point for some readers. The characters are developed into real people that you either love or hate, but they are complex characters that take some getting used to. The plot is unique in a well-written story that will keep you reading and stay with you long afterward. The ending will leave you wanting more, but that’s where the next book in the series will pick up, which I am looking forward to reading.
