Author Biography

With a last name like Noel, you know that I enjoy Christmas! I am a retired teacher who enjoyed reading books like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson with my students. These were exciting, well-written books but lacked any kind of a Christian perspective. As a Christian, this was a problem for me. I wanted to give young readers an exciting series of adventure books that also had a Christian worldview. Thus was born "The Centurions" series, books set in the age of knights and shieldmaidens with dragons, werewolves, and other magical creatures on the prowl, where problems of faith, as well as courage, must be faced.

The Werewolf's Gift is the second novel in The Centurions series by David Noel. The battle between good and evil is never-ending. Portia and Brendan have successfully thwarted the dragon and secured their people from the clutches of evil. Now, they are heroes who are welcomed with open arms. No one cares that Brendan was a thief or the circumstances that led them here. They were going to celebrate Christmas as a community and the duo was on the way to Castle Nordhaven when danger struck again. A mysterious man wants the Centurions to move out of his way. He has a score to settle and that cannot be done with Portia and Brendan in the way. The duo thought this was going to be their respite, but it looks like they have a new enemy coming for them and some old enemies trying to get back at them. Can they fight this adversary and come out of the battle victorious once again?

I have not read the first novel in the series, yet I had zero issues catching up with the storyline. Thanks to the author’s impressive background building, I understood where The Werewolf's Gift left off and where it was starting again. Portia and Brendan are two very different characters yet they work together so well. I really enjoyed David Noel’s writing style and the gentle guidance he provided for his characters to grow and evolve. The author made sure the threat of evil was real and the reader understood the severity of the situation. Portia and Brendan’s teamwork was essential in defeating the werewolf army, the Vikings, and the children of the dragon. It may seem like a lot happening at once, but the author managed to bring the timeline together really well and give a cohesive mix of action and adventure. Impressive!
