The one thing he loves more than anything else in the world is Christmas: the smell of cookies baking, the lights twinkling on the trees, and the happiness he feels everywhere. But what he really loves is hunting for his presents. His mom knew how to hide his gifts, giving Lamar a real challenge every year. One Christmas, he overheard a conversation about his gift, but he got more than he bargained for when he went hunting for it. After a heart-to-heart with his Granny Mae, he finally realized that Christmas isn't about gifts but the joy of family and love.
The Christmas Lesson: Unwrapping Love and Family by Dedrick L Moone is a lovely kids' story with some amazing illustrations, full of color and light. The story is loosely based on the author's childhood, and it shows children that, while it's nice to receive presents at Christmas, it's about much more than that.
