The Crows of Ticklewick by Phaishonne Danzie is a charming story about a family of crows. The family consists of the parents, and two young crows named Toolie and Forteist. The father is concerned that they may not survive the big freeze, and they have eggs ready to hatch. Toolie tells her brother that they should help the family by gathering food, or else they may starve. But then, Toolie takes food from some baby foxes, and laws are broken. The foxes' dad goes to the nest and says he wants their eggs in return for the food Toolie stole. Will they ever get the fox away from the newly hatched eggs?

I really enjoyed reading The Crows of Ticklewick by Phaishonne Danzie. The book is very well written and descriptive. The story is very well thought out and well developed. I was hooked by the first page and I never wanted to put the book down. This story will keep the young reader on the edge of their seat with excitement, and will leave them wanting to know what happens next. The characters are very likeable, because they want to help their family in whatever ways they can. The story is very exciting, and is filled with suspense. The book has a few funny parts. I liked how the two crow siblings, Forteist and Toolie, behaved just like human siblings would. Children will enjoy reading this book and seeing what happens to the crows. I would definitely recommend this book to all young readers.
