Jay Perin's The Cuban Gambit (One Hundred Years of War Book 3) continues the epic series that begins in The Maltese Attack and adapts the Indian epic mythology—the Mahabharata. There are no boring moments in the fast-moving plot that includes plans for revenge, evil plots for power, frightening terrorist attacks, large-scale drug deals, dramatic court cases, and more captivating events. Regardless of the immense pressure she faces, Lilah refuses to cave in as she undertakes a challenging role at the top of a powerful organization and fights off those who seek her downfall. Will Lilah survive the corporate warfare and the dirty schemes of her enemies as she struggles with the traumatizing memories of the time she was assaulted as a teenager?
I seriously enjoyed the hours of excitement and suspense from reading The Cuban Gambit. Just when I thought I had gotten the direction of the story, a new development would leave me completely amazed and eager to see the next event. With a brilliant execution that could only originate from a highly sophisticated and creative mind, Jay Perin mixes different themes to keep readers at the mercy of the next twist of his story: the CIA, espionage, politics, crime, sexual assault, marital problems, terrorism, war, the oil business, and more. The story depicts several characters and their relationships with the protagonists to give readers a deep, all-encompassing perspective of the characters. The Cuban Gambit would appeal to readers who enjoy historical fiction and a large plot that includes many surprising twists and turns. However, reading the previous books in the series is necessary to grasp the full gist of the story.
