The setting for Pat Gillespie’s Cynthia Morgan Story is the plantations of New Orleans. The author will keep the reader wondering what is fact and fiction.
Catherine Habersham-Fairbanks and her husband Morgan were about to have their first child, a little girl. No woman in the Habersham family has survived childbirth. Each birth produced a daughter. Catherine believed the curse would end with her. She was determined to give birth to a healthy little girl and to survive the birth. But alas Catherine died in the arms of her husband and their daughter did not survive. The line of Habersham women ended with Catherine.
Morgan inherited the estates and plantation along with all the problems that come along with it. He also inherited the ghostly spirit of his late wife’s great-great-grandmother Cynthia. The ghostly spirit was the exact image of his wife Catherine.
A local wealthy man was determined to own the plantation and would stop at nothing to achieve his goal, even murder.
This is an exciting read. I was hooked from the first page and held captive to the last. I kept wondering how much was based on fact. I felt a connection with the characters even the ghostly ones. Fans of paranormal-suspense romance will enjoy this novel. This is a fast, enjoyable read.
