The Dark Down There by Lori R. Lopez is a well-written short story that will send shivers down your spine. In this thrilling storyline, you follow the main character Cynthia on her quest to find out what haunted her as a child. The monster she believed in has now returned and is awaiting her in the basement. Unfortunately for Cynthia, she is paralyzed with fear and guilty at the thought of cute kittens being trapped down there. She must rescue them, right? Cynthia battles her mind and body, not knowing what's real and what the monster is making her think. Find out what Cynthia chooses to do in her terrifying predicament in The Dark Down There.
Lori R. Lopez has created a truly terrifying story that will give you nightmares or, at the very least, have you wondering what lurks in your basement if you have one. This book showcases how good a writer Lori is. The build-up to the story was excellent. I found myself on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next. I loved Lori's choice of the main character Cynthia and I enjoyed getting to know a bit of her back story; it was so simple yet effective for the plot. The Dark Down There is fast-paced and will excite every part of you as you reach the end of the story, where you finally find out what exactly lurks beneath. This book is one to read if you are seeking a quick dose of thrills, so the question is, will you dare to read it?
