The Dragoon Deception by L.G. Burchard is a story full of suspense. Maggie Mackenzie finds herself travelling to Arizona to try to discover the truth about the deaths of her husband and son. All she takes with her is a letter she received from her son and the facts she heard from the sheriff – facts she isn’t entirely sure she believes. Missing a turning, she finds herself in Sidewinder Station, in the middle of nowhere, where she meets Alex Rose. Feeling she can trust him, she tells him what she is doing and they get together to follow the truth. What they find is about to change their lives forever as Maggie’s journey takes her back to her past, which is irrevocably entwined with Alex’s. Her past is unfinished business and she now finds out that much of it was a lie – a very dangerous lie. Shady characters, lies, and deception lead to a truth that no one could have thought possible, and it soon becomes clear that nothing is what it seems as the present collides with the past.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Dragoon Deception by L.G. Burchard. A fascinating story that started straight away. There was no fussing and from page one I was there. I thought that the story was exceptionally well written, lots of different threads that all moved towards one conclusion – one that I never guessed. I have to say that, about halfway through the book, I thought it was all over, the truth was out, and I was wondering what was going to fill the rest of the story. And then I found out as the story took off in yet another thrilling direction, with more twists and more turns. I may be wrong, but I felt that there was room for another story to come out of this one. Even if it doesn’t, I would like to see what else L.G. Burchard has in store. A thoroughly good writer who knows how to hook a reader with a thrilling tale.
