In pursuit of more success and stability, Carter has taken for granted the things she already has, including the man who loves her unconditionally, her daughter who is very understanding, and her family whom she doesn't keep in touch with anymore. Even when she’s already successful by most people’s standards, she still does not slow down and look at the more important things in life. Now in eight hours, all of that will be taken away by God who had given it all to her. Will Carter learn to appreciate and be grateful for what she has in the final eight hours of her life? Rhonda Kennedy tells the story of Carter, her regrets, aspirations, and how she will make it all all right in her novel The Final Eight.

Rhonda Kennedy wrote a moving and heartfelt story in The Final Eight. What happened to Carter happens to most of us; in our attempts to seek more material things and riches we sometimes forget the people who have supported and loved us along the way. The message she sent through her novel is a powerful and inspiring one. Luke was an outstanding man for sticking with Carter, even if she rejects his love and support continually. I didn't like how Carter was with her family, especially Luke and her daughter, Payton, but as the story develops so does Carter. Not everybody will be given the chance that Carter was given, so reading this story will really teach readers a life lesson. It was kind of sad but I love how everything played out and how it ended was epic.
