The main characters in this historical romance are Tom and Lizzie. Tom lied about his age to secure a job as the Gamekeeper for Brigadier Trethurgy. Tom is told to stay away from the Trethurgy family unless the Brigadier asks for him. Only three days on the job and Virginia Trethurgy seduces her father’s new employee.
Lizzie Carthew is the eighteen year old daughter of a preacher. She left home without her parents blessings. She takes a job working in a Seaman’s mission hoping to win her father’s approval and love. She arrives in Plymouth England alone and without any place to stay. The pastor she will be working for found for her lodging in a local brothel. Her plans are to stay one night and then find somewhere else to live. When she meets the handsome gamekeeper she decides to stay a little longer.
If you enjoy Historical Romance then you will enjoy The Gamekeeper. It’s a book that was very hard to put down once you get started and has a great ending.
