Author Biography

I’ve always enjoyed writing. It started off in grade school when I would write poems and enter them into contests listed in the backs of magazines, hoping to win it big and become famous like a lot of kids dream about. In high school, short stories replaced my poems. Even though I mostly kept those stories to myself, I continued to daydream about them as I got older. As an adult, I desired to write full-length books to get those larger stories out of my head and onto paper. And so here we are!

In life, I find it’s much easier to look on the positive side of things and to laugh every chance you get. Find what you love. Take those risks. After all, you miss out on 100% of the chances you don’t take!

In The Green by B.L. Twitchell, Josephine was investigating a case to prove her skills in a male-dominated profession when a strange green fog knocked her out. When she awakened, she discovered that masses had been killed, and while others weren’t harmed, some were deformed or discovered unique abilities. Josephine was among those who developed otherworldly skills, which she learned when ice came from her hands. Given the task to solve a cold case, she finally sees an opportunity to prove herself. Her male coworkers are hot on the trail of a mob boss with the ability to throw fire, and she believes she can find the man first. When she locates him, she develops a plan to use the mob boss to solve the cold cases. But as the two work together, they form a connection that could change everything.

Events move from murder mystery to superhero archetypes to slow-burning romance. The appearance of the fog creates a larger mystery that hangs over the story and keeps you turning the pages, seeking answers. The story is an interesting mashup of genres that blend well together. The setting offers a unique backdrop with an alternative history brought to life with apocalyptic elements and a 1950s aesthetic. The tone begins with humor that allows you to get to know Josephine and form a connection with her before the other elements of the story come into play. You get an immediate sense of what she wants and the obstacles she’s up against as a woman in a male-dominated field. The story shifts between perspectives, Josephine's and Arlen's, which gives you two aspects of the world. The dynamic between them is an intriguing slow burn built on chemistry and the opportunity for them to fulfil their agendas. Through each of them, you get a fuller view of the world, and it’s a fascinating exploration that will leave you wanting more. The Green by B.L. Twitchell is a unique blend of genres that offers something fresh to fans of romance, superheroes, historical fiction, and mystery.
